Research

As the primary research assistant for the Phelps Lab for the past year, my involvement in research has been varied to say the least. I will highlight several studies to try and offer a complete picture. I have been significantly involved with a study examining the effects of how negative versus neutral imagined scenes affect the Potentiated Startle eyeblink response. I have designed, administered, and analyzed the resulting data from a study examing how neutral versus taboo words affect later performance on a reaction time judgment concerning these words. In collaboration with Adam K. Anderson, Ph.D., I have administered a study that aims to uncover how words of an emotional nature interact with an attentional phenomenon know as the "attentional blink." Going forward, I will be focusing on designing and running an experient which uses virtual reality technology to further explore conditioning paradigms. Furthermore, I will be attempting to fit this particular study within a fMRI experimental design.
