Research:
My research is focused on understanding the flexibility of emotions. I study the intentional change of emotions through the implementation of different emotion regulation strategies (e.g. reappraisal), as well as the modification of fear through the use of the reconsolidation update mechanism. I am also interested in what happens when people lose their ability to flexibly cope with emotions (for example, in generalized anxiety disorder and depression). I apply psychophysiological, behavioral and neuroimaging measures in order to answer these research questions.
