Research:
My research examines the intersection of emotion and decision-making, by asking when and how components of emotion contribute to the processes of valuation and choice. To do so, I use a combination of psychological, neuroscientific, computational, and economic theories and methods. These include instruction in emotion regulation techniques, quantitative parametric behavioral modeling, stress inductions, or pharmacological manipulations of arousal, in the context of measurements of choices, eye gaze, skin conductance, cortisol, or fMRI. In doing so, I hope to shed new light on the many ways in which our emotions reliably influence our choices, and allow us to better control or anticipate those effects.
