HOW DO I JOIN PSI CHI?
I've turned in my Psi Chi application - what should I do now? Now what you have to do is make sure that you are signed up for an interview on the Psi Chi bulletin board. Be sure to remember your interview times. Your application won't be reviewed without an interview! The interviews will be held in Meyer Hall, Room 162. This is the Psi Chi office, at the very end of the long hallway.


Psi Chi applications are available at the beginning of every semester.
If you miss the Spring deadline, don't worry. We will be accepting applications again in the Fall.

If you intend to download the application, please print out the application and return it along with your personal statement and academic transcript to the Psi Chi box located on the bulletin board just outside of the psych main office in Meyer Hall, 6 Washington Place.


APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

    1. Fill out an application form.

    2. Attach an academic transcript to your application. If you have attended other schools, please supply those transcripts as well.

    3. Attach your personal statement (250 words or less) stating why you are interested in joining Psi Chi, your research interests and goals, and anything else you think we would like to know about you.

    4. Return the completed application to the Psi Chi box located just outside of the main psychology office in Meyer Hall, 6 Washington Place. APPLICATIONS ARE DUE Friday, February 11th 2005 at 5:00 PM.

    5. Sign up for an interview for the days of 2/14-2/18. The sign-up sheet will be available Friday, February 11th, and will be posted on the Psi Chi bulletin board. Interviews will be held in Meyer 162.

    6. Final decisions about membership will be made by the Board; we will contact you by email or phone. Good Luck!

Membership Requirements*

  • Registration for major or minor standing in psychology or for a program psychological in nature which is equivalent to such standings

  • Completion of at least 3 semesters of college courses

  • Completion of at least 12 credit hours in psychology

  • Applicants must demonstrate superior scholarship in psychology, earning a minimum GPA in psychology courses of at least 3.50 and a minimum cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 for both undergraduate and graduate students. Psi Chi accepts the policy of the institution registrar regarding grades**

  • High standards of personal behavior

  • Final decisions about membership will be made by the Board.
    *Any chapter, at its discretion, may establish higher academic standards for eligibility, but may not require service standards for eligibility. Membership in Psi Chi is open to qualified candidates of any age, sex, sexual orientation, race, handicap or disability, color, religion, and national and ethnic origin.
